Sometimes we try too hard to fix what we see as being our problems. We are constantly looking for the answer or the cure.

For example, we try really hard to relax or we try really hard to sleep but what actually happens is this trying becomes stressful and is counter productive.

I want to share an old story with you about how monkeys are caught. Food is placed inside a narrow necked pot which is buried in the ground. The monkey slips its hand inside the pot to grab the food but this makes their fist too big to fit back through the neck of the pot. The monkey then believes itself to be trapped. We know that if it let go of the food it would be free, but the monkey remains trapped by its mind.

Sometimes we don’t need to ‘do’ anything. We just need to stop holding on to the problem.

Is there something you need to let go of? Are there certain thoughts that are keeping you stuck by holding your focus?

Give yourself a bit of time to reflect on this story and consider how it might apply to your life at the moment. Perhaps you might experiment with letting go and see how it feels to not have to ‘do’ anything.
