Each month I will bring you one simple idea to try out in you life. The aim is to gradually upgrade your habits, routines and behaviours through small, easy to implement actions.

This Month

Stop Apologising

Spend a day attempting to notice how often you apologise for yourself. How often do you say ‘I’m sorry but…’, or ‘I hate to ask but…’. How often do you apologise when someone else gets in your way on the footpath or going through a door, as if you don’t have a right to be there.

Constantly apologising for ourselves undermines our self worth and our self respect and may actually mean that other people dismiss us more easily or treat us with less respect than we deserve.

This month, lets focus on breaking this habit. Let’s stop apologising for ourselves, unless of course you genuinely need to apologise for a mistake.

We have rights and we are all important so ask questions, make requests and go about your day without apology.

You might find that you come across in any interaction with more authority and self respect and so are treated that way by others too.
