By this point in the New Year, a massive percentage of people will have failed to keep their New Years Resolution. Many people don’t even bother to make them anymore because they know they will fail to achieve what they set out to.

But, we need to make progress in order to be happy.

A quote that always sticks with me is this

Progress is an essential part of truly living and yet the vast majority of us fail to make a change after just a couple of weeks in January.

I am sharing this video with you as Tony Robbins describes so well so many of the things I believe in and that I am often asking people to think about.

Too may of us are willing to settle for far less than we deserve whether that be in our health, our relationships or how we feel. You deserve better and you have to raise your standards in order to get better.

Once you have raised your standards, you identify yourself in a new way and you will do everything in your power to be consistent with how you identify yourself. For example, if you identify yourself as a healthy person, your small choices and actions through each day will be consistent with being a healthy person.

I think the elephant metaphor he describes is perfect for illustrating how powerful our beliefs are.

The small actions you make every day are your rituals. In Tonys words, ‘willpower doesn’t last but rituals last a lifetime’.

So, if you have been living in a way that is less than what you want, think about how you have been identifying yourself. Who do you believe yourself to be?

If you want to make a change in your life, make a start right now by following this simple process outlined in the video. You just need a pen and a piece of paper.

Choose an area of your life to improve and describe where you are with it right now.

What are the rituals that have put you here? What things have you been dong everyday to be this person?

Write down what you want

What would you need to do differently to get to what you want? What rituals do you need?

Start a few of your rituals as of right now.
