Are you feeling frazzled? Overwhelmed? Stressed? Exhausted? Burnt Out?

Do you feel you are trapped in a never ending cycle of frustrating events, worries and stress related health niggles?

But, you have no time to get on top of your stress. Perhaps you feel that even when you have a holiday you find it very hard to relax and then your first day back to your routine feels like you have never been away?

You really need a way of managing your stress levels whilst still attending to all the tasks that need to get done in your life and your work.

Is that possible?

Most of us go through the day with our stress level continually rising. We get more and more tense as the day goes on as we get stuck in a traffic jam, add another pile of things to the ‘to do’ list, realise we haven’t got anything in for dinner so there will have to be a last minute dash to the shops etc etc. By the time we come to the end of the day our stress level is at its peak. By this point you probably have a headache, or some other physical niggle and you feel like you cant cope with anymore. And yet you know you have to start all over again tomorrow. You might collapse into bed and pass out from exhaustion or you might struggle to sleep because your head is racing, you feel awful and probably just want to cry. For some, this cycle will continue until they find themselves with a more serious problem – often a health issue, insomnia, relationship problems, anxiety or low mood.

Your stress levels look like this across the span of your day. Over the course of time, the baseline level from where your stress level starts from in the morning is likely to rise and rise.

This is a pattern of stress we can all get into from time to time and is something I see regularly with  clients in my clinic.

So, how do we change this pattern of stress when we can’t do much to change our external environment? We can’t change the traffic on the drive to work, we can’t change what is required of us at work, we can’t change our daily responsibilities etc.

Crucially, what we can change is our ability to cope. We can change how much control we have over the way we respond to those stressful situations. We can change our resilience and our trust in ourselves to face each day, no matter what that day might bring. What’s great about this is that it is up to us, it is within our control.

But we need to learn how to make these positive changes in a way that is practical and do-able when there is already so much to think about in our day to day lives.

What if your stress levels could look more like this over the course of a day? Imagine how much better you would feel by the end of the day.

I am not suggesting that you try to remove all stress from your life – simply living in the modern world is going to bring up stresses on a regular basis. But the difference here is that you are regularly bringing your stress level down throughout the day so although you keep experiencing stress it can never get as high. Over time, the more practised you become at bringing down stress level, the gradually lower your overall stress levels will become. Perhaps you could expect them to look more like this:

I designed QuickCalm to be the strategy you can put in place to achieve that more healthy pattern of your daily stress levels.

QuickCalm is a combination of fast (5 minutes or less) techniques to employ throughout the day to reduce your stress levels, as well as mindset adjustments and practical methods for integrating this into your life.

QuickCalm is a solution I put together based on my experiences working with hundreds of clients on reducing their stress and increasing their ability to not only cope, but to thrive in everyday life.

With QuickCalm, every thing is bitesized. I know that when you are stressed, the last thing you want to do is pour over complicated methods of self help or try to find hours in the day to ‘relax’. This will only set you up for failure and make you feel worse.

Instead, what about taking one tiny, five minute step at a time? What about gradually incorporating more and more positive and helpful strategies into your day? Then, day by day you are layering up your coping mechanisms, you are building your resilience so that your positive methods of coping begin to outweigh the stress you have coming into your life.

That is what QuickCalm is all about.

The book contains 36 techniques and 6 audios are included to make it even easier for you to adopt these methods of managing stress.

What people have said about QuickCalm…

I am really loving using QuickCalm, I am making a conscious effort to take a few minutes to listen to the tracks and focus on relaxing, especially before and after work. I have downloaded them onto my IPod and it’s great because I can listen to them on the train or bus and they fit in with a busy life. – Carolyn

Your techniques are excellent and you use your words so well. When I am stressed I can always picture being sat on the settee with your words penetrating my mind. I particularly like the Inner Candle, Progressive Relaxation and Favourite Place. – Peter

I have been using Quick Calm for a few months now and have found that using the techniques as and when the moment presents itself has been extremely beneficial – such as 5 minutes waiting in the car before an appointment; on waking (the inner candle or the staircase); before sleep (progressive relaxation or favourite place). They all work and fit different situations, leaving me feeling calmer and ready to face the day. – Caroline
