Each month I will bring you one simple idea to try out in your life. The aim is to gradually upgrade your habits, routines and behaviours through small, easy to implement actions.

‘Success doesn’t always come from the big actions we take, but from the sum of all the small actions we repeat’

This Month

Have a weekly check in with yourself

When life gets busy, we tend not to spend much time with ourselves. We simply move from task to task with our attention absorbed in external activities, not taking a huge amount of notice of ourselves unless we happen to be feeling bad.

We often have a great sense of time flying by and us not having a great deal of control over how life is going. What’s more, the things that really matter to us seem to find their way onto the back burner.

So this month, I would encourage you to try changing all that and purposefully put yourself in the driving seat of your life. Make your priorities a priority and make your wellbeing non negotiable.

So, carve out a little bit of time every week to do a check in with yourself. Sometime on a Sunday evening or Monday morning can be ideal for this but do whatever suits you best. Sit down with a notebook, journal or planner and spend some time exploring, dreaming, prioritising and reviewing.

Some questions you could ask yourself would include:

+ How am I feeling – physically, emotionally, mentally? Is there anything I need to do to feel better?

(eg, book a doctors appointment, reschedule massage, make more time for relaxation etc)

+ Am I spending enough time and energy on the things that are important to me?

+ How are my stress levels? What can I do to reduce my stress in the next week?

+ Are there any lessons I can be taking on board at the moment?

+ Am I putting enough positive stuff into my experience of life?

+ What makes me feel good?

+ Is there anything I need at the moment?

You may find you come up with some questions of your own that make sense to your situation.

Try to keep up with this practice every week. You will find more clarity, wellness and a sense of empowerment come from adopting this habit into your life.

You are important so get used to putting yourself and your priorities at the top of the agenda.
